Playing Hookey and Eating Broccoli

I had to take June to the doctors yersterday, she's had a cough and a fever and her daycare called me at work yesterday to say she wasn't doing too well, so I picked her up and we made an appointment. We called Grandma and asked if she could meet us for a last minute lunch since we had some time before hand. June got to "eat" broccoli for the first time. She really hasn't tried anything other than baby food, rice cereal, some banana and pasta; so this was really fun. I don't know what I was thinking, broccoli can be very messy. I wasn't prepared either since we came right from daycare and I didn't have her bag, hence the table napkin Little Rascals style. She needed something to gnaw on and distract her, it was either the broccoli or a coaster, luckily Grandma had her camera. The doctor said it was just a cold, she still had a fever this moring, so she stayed home with Dad (who's sick too!), so hopefully Archie and Rose take good care of them today!

A very determined June.

June and Archie taking a nap.

June in the Mornin'

June really enjoys her daycare. She smiles so big when she sees the daycare ladies and the other kids in the morning. This is her today, watching her little friend Jack coming in. I always give her a little hug and kiss when I go, but she's too busy to notice; "Mom, don't embarrass me!"

Gran's House

June had a sleep over at Mom and Charlie's on Saturday night. Looks like they put her to work doing some dishes, but let her rest to eat and show off her little belly. She also got to model a new outfit that Grandma bought her. Jeff and I went to dinner and a movie, but we're so out of practice at the whole "Date Night" thing, that we tipped our waiter twice and were in bed by 10. We did manage to get some quality sleep, but we both woke up a couple times thinking we heard June! We're a sad lot.

I'm a Junebug too!

Junebug is in good company. Jeff said he already knew about the airplane (Mr. Smarty Pilot Man), but there are some really fun Junebug's out there. Dawn gave her a hosta 'June' last fall and I know there is a daylily 'Siloam June Bug'. Beware of the movie "JuneBug", it's horrible and depressing and I made the mistake of watching it while I was pregnant, just take my word for it, no good. Mom and Charlie found out the hard way, they bought a copy. Too bad the actual bug is so darn ugly.

Scrunchy Nose

June has discovered how to make little faces now. She loves to crinkle and scrunch her nose, which turns into an adorable smile. Gayle got this great picture of her doing it the other day, this is her in the little hospital gown at Children's ER. The only thing we could do to entertain her was blow up one of the rubber gloves and let her play with it. We were worried the hospital would scold us for wasting/stealing a glove; but that's nothing compared to the hazmat bags that Jeff and I took for her poopy diapers!

Crawling

June is still working on crawling, she's not doing an actual crawl, but I'm still amazed that she figures out a way to get to where she wants to be.

On The Mend

Well June is feeling much, much better. She had a great day at daycare yesterday and was really pooped by the end of the day. I think she must have been really starved for fun (and food!) after the long week at home with boring old mom and dad. She was a little glutton yesterday and ate more than she ever has in a single day. When I dropped her off in the morning I gave them a warning that she may be a little fussy and refuse to eat, but I picked her up and they said how great she did and how happy she was; so she must have been milking it at home with me and Jeff.
